Best Hockey Gear (“we”, “us”, “besthockeygear.com”) respects your privacy. This page explains what we collect, why we collect it, and your options for opting out.
What we collect
When you visit besthockeygear.com, we automatically collect:
- Standard server logs: IP address, browser type, referring page, pages viewed, and timestamps. These are kept for up to 30 days for security and performance debugging.
- Analytics: If we run a privacy-respecting analytics tool (currently none enabled), it captures aggregated, anonymized page-view data.
- Caching cookies: Our caching layer (LiteSpeed) sets short-lived technical cookies. These don’t identify you personally.
When you actively give us information, we also collect:
- Newsletter signups: Email address only. Stored with our newsletter provider for the purpose of sending you the newsletter.
- Contact-form messages: Name, email, reason, and message body. Stored as email in the editorial inbox.
- Comments (if enabled): Name, email, and comment body. Email is never published.
What we don’t collect
- We don’t run third-party advertising trackers.
- We don’t sell or rent your data to anyone.
- We don’t share newsletter subscriber lists.
- We don’t share contact-form messages with manufacturers or retailers.
Affiliate links
When you click a “View deal” button on a product review, you’ll be redirected to a retailer’s website (Pure Hockey, Hockey Monkey, Amazon, The Hockey Shop, etc.). Once you’re on their site, their privacy policy and cookies apply — not ours. We don’t see what you look at or buy on the retailer’s site, only that the click came from us so we receive a small commission. The retailer pays this commission out of their existing budget; your price isn’t affected.
Cookies
besthockeygear.com uses:
- Strictly-necessary cookies set by our caching layer (technical, not tracking).
- Affiliate-attribution cookies set by retailers when you click through (managed by them).
You can disable cookies in your browser. Most of the site will continue to work; only some interactive elements may behave differently.
Your rights
If you’re in the EU/UK (GDPR), California (CCPA), or another jurisdiction with data-protection rights, you can:
- Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
- Request that we delete your personal data.
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time via the unsubscribe link in every email.

Children
besthockeygear.com is not directed to children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page when we change anything material. Substantive changes will be announced to newsletter subscribers.
